William J. Eldridge

1825-1898

In 1846 Mr. Eldridge purchased 55 acres of land in Indiana and about 5 years after ward came to this township. He purchased 80 acres of land in Section 16. His son, Daniel, enlisted at Grand Rapids in the 7th Michigan Cavalry and served the remainder of the war. He was discharged at Salt Lake City and returned home by water via California.

He was 73 when he died. His wife, Rebecca Van Patten was 75. See Grandfather has a stone. Also, daughter, Eliza, 24 years old has a stone. They are buried in Boynton Cemetery.
