BARNES, JAMES died at home of dau. on June 24, 1899. Burial beside wife in Plainfield Twp., born in N.Y. state July 2, 1817, came to Edgerton, Plainfield in 1859. Left dau. Mrs. T. B. Haines of Cedar Springs; son, U. Barnes of Plainfield (June 28, 1899)

BEACH, FRANK died at Sand Lake, MI., Jan. 14, 1904, under suspicious circumstances. Post Mortem showed a diseased liver. Mrs. Beach shot herself before funeral, Jan 17 and died Jan 22; buried near Grand Rapids. He left dau. Hester McCarthy of Grand Rapids; two brothers of Grand Rapids. Mrs. Beach was born Belle Pierce of Grand Rapids, MI (Jan. 20, 1904)

BEARDSLEE, WALTER B. son of J. C. Beardslee of Nelson died March 5, 1902 age 38 of peritonitis; m. May 25, 1908, Dora M. Stout of Courtland, MI. Left brother and sister, Mrs. F. M. Butler of Linden. (Mar. 19, 1902)

BEARSS, LEVI born Hobart, N.Y., Feb. 1, 1840; died Tacoma, Washington, July 1, 1915 of a stroke. Came to Kent Co., Mi in 1855 and in 1862 enlisted with Co. "G"

FAIRCHILD, BENJAMIN died Mackinaw City, MI., May 14, 1905 about 80 years old. He came to Cedar Springs in 1865, plotted part of land that lies in Solon Twp. Left Cedar Springs after the fire of 1884. (May 17 1905)

FINCH, NELLIE (RICE), of Solon, born Vermont, March 25, 1830; died last week; m. N.Y., 1849, Noah Finch. Leaves three sons now living: Edward , Eugene and Perry-all of Solon, MI. (Dec. 28, 1904)

FORD, ANNIE died Lowell, MI., Apr. 16, 1901 age 94 years, at home of her dau. Mrs. Joseph Jones. Another dau. Mrs. George Fullington, resides at Cedar Springs, MI (Apr. 17, 1901)

GOULD, SIMEON born Cleveland, OH. May 11, 1822; died March 2, 1903; m. Sarah Ury, Jan 1854, Elysia OH. She died 1881, bur: Elmwood. Came to Cedar Springs in 1855. He leaves five children. (Mar. 4, 1903)

HALL, THOMAS of Solon, MI. born Genesee Co., N.Y. 1810; died last week. Came to Grand Rapids, MI. in 1846; to Solon in 1864. Leaves Hiram who cared for him and Edwin of Luther. (May 8, 1895)

HASTINGS, SAMUEL died May 1, 1895 at the age of 73 years. A pioneer of Cedar Springs. Left wife and daughter, Mrs. S. E. O'Dell. (May 8, 1895)

HUTCHINS, CHARLES formerly of Cedar Springs, MI died at Salem, Oregon on May 23, 1904. He was a brother of Alonzo Link. Mr. Hutchins moved to Salem, Ore. in 1903. (June 4, 1904)

JEWELL, EDWARD was born in New York in 1818 and died in California on June 11, 1900 at the age of 82 yrs. Came to Michigan in 1855 and was a prominent resident of Cedar Springs; to California in 1872, ret. to Michigan in 1874; back to Calif. in 1876. Bur: Elmwood beside his 3 sons. Is survived by wife and 6 ch. Mrs. M. J. Clark, Mrs. Ida Baker; Frank Jewell, of Grand Rapids; Mrs. C.D. Parish; Ray and Dell of California. (Jan 20-Jan 27, 1900)

KROMER, FRANCES A. (IVORY) born Jefferson Co. N. Y. July 24, 1835; died March 1, 1896; m. Russell Kromer, Jefferson Co. N.Y. June 2, 1855. Funeral at M. E. Church. Settled in Cannon then in Grattan then to Cedar Springs, MI. in 1867. Survived by 3 ch.: Mrs. Nora Black of Alpena , MI; Mrs. Eld. Clough of Grand Rapids, MI, W.R. Kromer of Tower, Minn. Another child died at age 4.

POLLOCK, JOHN born Perth, Canada, Apr. 25, 1830. d. Apr. 12, 1903. Was in Plainfield in 1854 then to Cedar Springs, MI. in 1879. Served in Company "F", 6th Michigan Cav. 1862-1865. CH: George E. Cheboygan, John F. of Grand Rapids, William F. of Sand Lake and Albert E. in far West. (Apr. 15, 1903)

SMALL, RUFUS D. born Lisbon, ME. Aug 2, 1824; died Oct 19, 1899; son of Samuel Small who died in 1897 at the age of 93 years. Was of cousin of Abraham Lincoln. In his early life he was a sailor and sailed in the Atlantic and in the Great Lakes area. Moved to Michigan 40 years ago residing first in Greewood, St. Clair Co. then moved to Richmond, Macomb Co. to Howard City and lastly to Cedar Springs. He married Feb 17, 1848 Hannah A. Kilgore. (Oct. 25, 1899)

WOODWORTH, A. J. born Naples Ontario Co. N.Y. in 1832; died at Solon Twp, Kent Co. Mich. Mar. 14, 1893; buried at E. Nelson; m. 1865 Lila Smith. Arrived in Michigan in 1850 and was in Kent Co. in 1874. (Mar. 22, 1893)

SPEAKER, MARY J. (DAVID) born Scipio, N.Y. Feb. 10, 1838; died Solon Twp. Sept. 4, 1899 of heart trouble; m. Wisconsin on Mar. 14, 1854 W. M. Speaker. Arrived Michigan in 1890 to removed to Solon Twp. Kent Co. Mi in 1892. (Sept. 13, 1899)

STODDARD, ELI born LaGrange, OH ; Oct 19, 1831; did Jun. 10, 1895 of cancer; bur. Punches Cem. His wife______Saulsbury died 1892. To Cedar Springs in 1858. (June 12, 1895)

WEEKS, JOHN born Apr. 17, 1822, N.Y. City; died Feb. 11, 1900; bur. Punches Cem. Moved to Ohio in 1834 and lived in Cedar Spring for about 45 years. He was a charter member of the Baptist Church in 1859. (Feb 14, 1900)
